Before The Cross: We Are Powerful

For believers, we actually have God within us. Not only does the Holy Spirit guarantee our inheritance (Ephesians 1:13-14), but He helps us in our weakness and leads us in how to glorify God and how to live the Christian life.

If we were left to be led by our own sinful flesh, we would only want to serve and glorify ourselves. It is only by the power of the Holy Spirit, that we can do anything and serve the Lord. The Spirit even intercedes for us on our behalf as we pray to God (Romans 8:26-28).

Let us be confident as sons and daughters of the King. Let’s be confident in the fact (because the Bible says so) that we have God within us. If He is in us and leads us, anything is possible. If God is for us, who could be against us? What a honor and privilege that He would see our bodies fit as a dwelling place for Him.

And in the end, He will be Glorious…

ROMANS 8:26-28 NET – In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.  And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes on behalf of the saints according to God’s will.  And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose,
GALATIONS 5:22-26 NET – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,   gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.  Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.  If we live by the Spirit, let us also behave in accordance with the Spirit.  Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, being jealous of one another.

Whoever serves, do so with the strength that God supplies, so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

Before The Cross: We Are Servants

When someone uses the word like servant, many things come to mind. Typically they are negative and the impression is one who is weak. Jesus was anything but weak and He was the greatest servant we’ve ever had. His example serves us in how to love others.

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” –Mark 10:45

God has wired us all differently and given us all specific gifts to be used for His glory. My encouragement to you would be to look where God has placed you and what desires He has given you to see whom He is calling you to serve.

If you’re wired for something and you’re passionate about it, why not think God can be glorified through it?

It could be serving those at a soup kitchen. It could be serving victims of human trafficking. It could be mowing your neighbor’s lawn. It could be serving women at a battered shelter. Pray for God to lead you in who He is calling you to serve.

One thing is for sure, if you just get started serving others, God will quickly show you your desires. The worst thing you could do is sit on the sidelines and do nothing. After all, Jesus served all of us and died for us. The question is how could we not go out and serve others?

We can be confident that God will lead us and give us the strength to serve others through the power of the Holy Spirit. The Bible teaches us that after we decide to follow Christ, we become powerful…
