Billy Graham Speaks on Love

Isaiah 64:6 NKJV

But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.

Love Despite Ourselves

The Bible teaches that all our righteousness—falling short of the divine standard as it does—is as filthy rags in the sight of God. There is absolutely no possibility of our manufacturing a righteousness, holiness, or goodness that will satisfy God. Even the best of us is impure to God. I remember one day when my wife was doing the washing. The clothes looked white and clean in the house, but when she hung them on the line they appeared soiled and dirty, in contrast to the fresh-fallen snow.

Our own lives may seem at times to be morally good and decent; but in comparison to the holiness and the purity of God, we are defiled and filthy. In spite of our sins and moral uncleanness God loves us. He decided to provide a righteousness for us. That is the reason that He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross.

Daily Prayer

My life is like a gray pall beside the whiteness of Your purity, Lord Jesus. Cleanse me this day.

Billy Graham on Romans 12:1

ROMANS 12:1 NKJV – I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which  is your reasonable service.

Looking For a Cause?

In a book called ‘The Age of Longing’ we read that an American girl married a radical revolutionary in Paris. She had lost her faith at an American University—lost all the religious faith she had, and all the things her parents had told her. She was asked why she married him. She said, “He’s the first person I have ever known who believes something strong enough to die for it. Although I don’t believe exactly as he does, I was attracted to this man who had found a cause.” I find that young people today are looking for a cause, and they are not looking for something easy.

Some time ago a university student in Moscow told one of my colleagues, “You Christians say that you are going to win the world, but we’ve done more in fifty years than you’ve done in two thousand years. And do you know why? It is because you are not committed. We are. We will win, you’ll see.”

Daily Prayer

I look at my dedication to You, Jesus, my Lord and Savior, and am ashamed—You gave everything for me. May I always live totally committed in love to You.

In that day you will say: “Give praise to the Lord , proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing to the Lord , for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world.

Prayer of the Day – October 28th

Holy, holy, holy, are you, O God! Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Every day is a day that you have made. May I hunger no more, neither thirst any more, because I am satisfied with the abundance of your house, and have drunk from the river of your pleasure.

Lord Jesus, you have revealed the Father and have brought us near to God. I thank you that I may look unabashed on the glory of the eternal throne and know that all the attributes of Deity are now on my side. Good and holy are you, Lord, and I stand in you.

Prayer of the Day – October 7th

Isn’t it great to wake in the presence and fellowship of God?  I am so grateful for the Holy Spirit!  Without the comforter, we could not fully know our Heavenly Father.  Without Jesus and His redeeming work, we would not have the Comforter, Whom He sent to us so that we might have power to overcome the enemy.  Praise be to God!
