Dwelling in God’s Love…..by Billy Graham

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. (‭1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭16‬ KJV)

I am comforted in the presence of God. No matter what happens, I feel secure there!

Perhaps Billy Graham said it best:

God Loves You!

Never question God’s great love, for it is as unchangeable a part of God as is His holiness. Were it not for the love of God, none of us would ever have a chance in the future life. But God is love! And His love for us is everlasting.

The promises of God’s love and forgiveness are as real, as sure, as positive, as human words can make them. But, like describing the ocean, its total beauty cannot be understood until it is actually seen. It is the same with God’s love. Until you actually possess true peace with God, no one can describe its wonders to you.

Daily Prayer

Yes, almighty God, I have felt the consolation of Your love!

…a Time to Dance…

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; (‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3‬:‭4‬ KJV)
It is certainly true that I am now into a different season. Anyone who ever witnessed me trying to dance (in my younger life) would attest that it certainly was not a time for that! I had the weeping, laughing and mourning down pat. I especially had the laughing part perfected. But dancing? There never seemed enough time for that.
Although there were different types of dancing, I did not participate in any. I was far too awkward for social dancing. Modern dance? I just didn’t get it. There were forms of dance that I could not even find a name for much less participate. It was not “time” for that.
But the new season that I am in allows for yet another type of dancing…the expressions from deep inside of me that bring me to profound rejoicing! This is not a celebration of legs only, or any other body parts exclusively or specifically. It is rather a body and soul celebration that surpasses all bodily dance in joyous participation. It is a party of soul and God’s presence that brings about true joy, real Godly presence, and spiritual renewal.
The season has passed for my physical dance manifestations, such as they were. However, in this time of God’s “seasons” it is as if my Saviour has spoken to me in a personal way…”Daryl, it is time. Would you like to dance?”

A Time to Heal

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; (‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3‬:‭3‬ KJV)

IMG_0014.JPG

I am encouraged by the fact that God has allowed for a time to heal: I surely need it. In this season of life, I am believing God to do the right right thing by me. That’s known as “grace” and it may not allow for complete physical healing!

Will I be a loving, obedient, child of God when I do not get my own way? I want to! That is part of the “…time to build up!” Suffering builds character and shows us where we can improve!

I am thankful to God in all things, in all seasons….Praise be unto Him!

Wise Man or Wise Guy?

Rio Vista DrawbridgeQuoting from the General Epistle of James:
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of , who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. (‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭5-8‬ NKJV)
I know a lot of people who are long on sarcasm, but short on compassion. These “wise guys” as I call them lack understanding regarding other people. Not everyone acts decently and wisely all the time. This does not qualify them for ridicule, but rather more kind treatment. In this way, they will learn from their misdeeds.
Because wise guys do not show understanding to others, they do not learn the true source of wisdom and understanding. Those who seek wisdom from God will receive understanding and thus treat others with compassion…Golden-Rule style. God’s way is better than the practice of ridicule!
Determine which way you will live, and you will reap benefits from God accordingly.

Prayer: God, help me to be more Christ-like…a wise man, not a wise guy!

Who Do You Love ?

I John 4:7-8 (KJV)

7     Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8     He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

In the First General Epistle of John, we are told of the nature of love and challenged to love some who might seem to you to be “unlovable.”  If we don’t have love, John asserts, we do not have God in us!  This is why I have a hard time accepting the so-called Christian-based hate groups.  I am confident that John would agree, if you “hate” or persecute those who worship differently than you, you do not know God!  If you go out of your way to make it difficult for others, you do not know God!  Love is not like that, hatred is.

We need to reexamine our motives in all areas of our life, to see if it is love-based or some other agenda.  Compare the scriptures to see if your brand of “love” shows God shining out from the center.

I am writing this blog after suffering several medical setbacks, and I feel like I am approaching my former condition.  I intend to resume regular blogging soon.  Therefore, all comments, pro or con will be appreciated.  Please feel free to open up…

Thank you and special thanks to our Father.

Verse of the Day – June 6th

http://bible.com/114/gal2.20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Galations 2:20

I love being in fellowship with God.  He is close to me, but never closer than fourty-five years ago.  On that date, my eldest son was born.  I  can only image God’s pleasure in His son, not born as we are, but nevertheless created in His image.
He loves His son as I love my son.  Having this in common makes fellowship sweeter.
We give ourselves to each other in fellowship and I thank Him for his care and interest in us.
Praise be to the Father, praise be to the son and praise be to thè Holy Spirit!  Amen!

Major Themes LXXXVIII – Believe

JOHN 20:1-31 NKJV

Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.” Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and were going to the tomb. So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first. And he, stooping down and looking in, saw the linen cloths lying there; yet he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there,  and the handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed. For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. Then the disciples went away again to their own homes. But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and  looked into the tomb. And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. Then they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.” Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, “Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.” Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher). Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father,  to  My God and your God.’ ” Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her. Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.”  When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”  And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.  If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “Peace to you!”  Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

The Very Nature of Kindness…

Galatians 5:22 NKJV

image

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

Kindness is a virtue that is misunderstood.  It should be of the heart and not just well-intentioned action.
If we love one another to the point where we demonstrate kindness, without thinking, without any conscious intention, then we are of the same nature as Christ!  He loved us so much, He gave His life for us…freely!
The kindness that we have simply does not measure up.
