A21 Prayer Guide Day Three

PRAY FOR GOVERNMENTS

For corruption to cease

Deuteronomy 16:19, Amos 5:12, Zechariah 8:16

DEUTERONOMY 16:19 NET – You must not pervert justice or show favor. Do not take a bribe, for bribes blind the eyes of the wise and distort the words of the righteous.

AMOS 5:12 NET – Certainly I am aware of your many rebellious acts and your numerous sins. You torment the innocent, you take bribes, and you deny justice to the needy at the city gate.

ZECHARIAH 8:16 NET – These are the things you must do: Speak the truth, each of you, to one another. Practice true and righteous judgment in your courts.

For implementation of just legislation

Proverbs 8:15, Proverbs 29:4, Nehemiah 9:13

PROVERBS 8:15 NET – Kings reign by means of me, and potentates decree righteousness;

PROVERBS 29:4 NET – A king brings stability to a land by justice, but one who exacts tribute tears it down.

NEHEMIAH 9:13 NET – “You came down on Mount Sinai and spoke with them from heaven. You provided them with just judgments, true laws, and good statutes and commandments.

For discernment in forming alliances

1 Kings 3:12, Proverbs 3:21, Eccleciastes 4:9-12

1KINGS 3:12 NET – I grant your request, and give you a wise and discerning mind superior to that of anyone who has preceded or will succeed you.

PROVERBS 3:21 NET – My child, do not let them escape from your sight; safeguard sound wisdom and discretion.

ECCLECIASTES 4:9-12 NET – Two people are better than one, because they can reap more benefit from their labor. For if they fall, one will help his companion up, but pity the person who falls down and has no one to help him up. Furthermore, if two lie down together, they can keep each other warm, but how can one person keep warm by himself? Although an assailant may overpower one person, two can withstand him. Moreover, a three-stranded cord is not quickly broken.
